The Staunton Memorial 2007
Raymond Keene
Howard Staunton was the Victorian polymath who became unofficial world
champion in chess, as well as writing the history of the British Public
School system and producing a collector's item edition of the works of
Shakespeare. For the past four years a Staunton Memorial tournament has been

Polgar and Truong REPEATEDLY take financial advantage of USCF by
Internal Bleach
(reprised)
Over the last several months, I have repeatedly warned this Executive Board,
and I have copied you, about the dangers of USCF working with Susan Polgar
and Paul Truong.
These two individuals are constantly trying to rip us off, and they have
often succeeded. For example, the highly unusual five-year, $30,000
contract Susan Polgar was given to write for Chess Life. There are...

Susan Polgar magnanimously waives appearance fee by
Internal Bleach
(for-immediate-release)
Since Terry Vibbert has announced intention to implement webcast equipment,
the delegates meeting will now be a televised event.
By a previouSLY negotiated legal agreement with Frank Niro, this event now
qualifies as a media promotion in connection with the USCF, and so Ms.
Polgar is entitled to the $5000 honorarium.
However, Susan has aGREED to waive her appearance fee...

Just Out of Curiosity..... by

and without comments of a negative nature I'd be interested in finding
out where the following chess personalities from here or USCF are
now? Hopefully they are all still living whether political friend or
foe.

Enough with the Sloan bashing already by
krose@citgo.com
As much as I think that Sam Sloan is morally bankrupt in his personal
life as the fact that he seems to create more implausible conspiracy
theories then the Branch Davidians, in all honesty he did seem to
serve a useful purpose on the USCF board.
1) He was not controlled by any of the self serving members of the
USCF's "leadership"
2) He did bring some things that I would classify as "shady...

Accuracy of election poll amazing! by
Rob
A recent USCF pre-election poll at the FIDE_CHESS @ yahoogroups
website conducted a poll that was dead on in accuracy!

The poll was:

Paul Truong aka "ChessPromotion" has returned to the USCF Forums today by
samsloan
An interesting development since this morning is that Paul Truong aka
"ChessPromotion" has returned to the USCF Forums today. He has posted
several times today, this after an absence of several months from the
Forums.
He and his devoted wife left the USCF Forums several months ago after
they were increasingly unable to answer embarrassing questions that
the regular posters kept asking.
They...

Director's Cut in The Last Picture Show by
samsloan
I saw this movie 30 years ago and I saw it yesterday on video. I think
that some changes have been made for the director's cut. I am not sure
that they are for the better.
In the pool scene, in the original Jacy is shocked to see all the
people naked. Finally, they get her to go up on the diving board. They
tease and jeer her. She is really reluctant and afraid. Finally, the
camera scans down to...

I have a new book out on the hystery of chess by
Chess One
Stop bothering me with these e-mails and public notices - I'm writing a very
important chess history as a commisioned project on the family-Sloan and
American Chess as we know it, featuring among other famous chess
personalities:
an early meeting by Josiah Smith-Sloan with Polgarhontas,
Ralph Waldo Sloan, who had a split personality, and sometimes thought he was
Johhny-Appleseedsloan, and...

The new USCF board by
parrthenon@cs.com
POLITICAL ANALYSIS
I have been on the transpacific blower and
exchanging e-mails with some Federation politerati.
Here is some of what I have heard:
1. A long-time California USCF observer figures
that the schism among members of the oligarchy or, as
he puts it, "the club," had everyone fighting so much
that they failed to notice an invasion from outer

Will Joel Channing Convert to Polgarism? by
samsloan
Will Joel Channing Convert to Polgarism?
A lot of people are asking this question because Polgar ran a slate of
four, with the obvious plan to take control of the USCF.
However, she must have known from the flip-flops of Randy Bauer when
he was on the board during 2004-2005 that Bauer had an independent
streak in him and could not be relied upon always to follow orders.
So, she must have...

What is wrong with George and Brenan Nierman? by
Jackass Lafferty
George is senile and keeps on repeating the same crap. Brenan Nierman
is just a wacky lunatic who wants to destroy the world and save
convicted felons like Sam Sloan. What the hell is wrong with them? Are
all chess players like this?

I am not humiliated by my election defeat by
samsloan
Several pundits have suggested that I have been humiliated by my
election loss yesterday, in which I received only 677 votes.
I do not feel humiliated. I was the target of the most vicious attacks
ever in the history of USCF Election politics. Even Mother Theresa
could not have withstood the attacks to which I was subjected. Those
attacks started more than two weeks before I even took office in...

Will Polgar Make it Through the Delegates' Meeting? by

Will Polgar Make it Through the Delegates' Meeting?
The delegate's meeting and the workshops that precede the delegates'
meeting will start on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 in Cherry Hill, New
Jersey.
These are likely to be raucous meetings. Although it has been
demonstrated by the election results that Polgar has the support of
the general membership, she may not have such strong support from...

Polgar for President by
samsloan
I agree with George for a change and I disagree with everybody else. I
believe that Susan Polgar could and indeed almost must be made
president of the USCF now, assuming that she wants the job.
The first reason that Polgar should be made president rather than
Goichberg is that Polgar is more beautiful than Goichberg.
I am not joking. Attractiveness and presentability are...

Who is the *fairest* of them all? by
Chess One
**As usual, a few questions are necessary, before the hangin' judge puts
that black thing over his head, coz as always, someone is going to
pay for this!
There should be a major inquiry into the question of how Gregory
Alexander, who just joined the USCF for the first time in his life a
few months ago and who has never played a rated game of chess in his
life,
**though somehow was...
