through 2/28/07. This is the largest adult membership gain for any 6
month period in 12 years (since 9/1/94 through 2/28/95), and has
occurred despite the fact that age 21-24 members became eligible for a
separate Young Adult category at the beginning of this period.

Overall membership is up by 5697 in the 6 months between 9/1/06 and
2/28/07, rising from 78,479 to 84,176, over 7%. This is the fourth
largest overall membership gain for any 6 month period in USCF
history, exceeded only by the periods ending 12/31/02, 1/31/03, and
2/28/03, when people were joining early to beat the dues increase of
January 2003.

Senior membership is up by 134 in the 6 months between 9/1/06 and
2/28/07, increasing from 2959 to 3093, a gain of over 4%. This is the
largest Senior membership gain for any 6 month period in 14 years,
since 10/1/92 through 3/31/93.

This, of course, is entirely due to the fact that Sam Sloan is on the
board now.

Is this claim accurate? One tends to think that surely there was a
bigger gain during some 6-month period of the Fischer boom circa
1971-74.
