First off, finding a friend or two for Sam Sloan is not
really a pertinent issue here. Secondly, it seems to
me from reading about all these squabbles and personal
vendettas -- which seem to never end -- that a good case
could be made for eliminating the committee format
altogether. Why not switch to a more effective form of
government, like say, a "benign dictatorship", or perhaps
a clear-cut division of authority such that there is no
overlapping of responsibilities and therefore, no need to
take these controversial votes? I keep reading about
how certain members have formed alliances (to put it
nicely) and that they all vote in tandem, regardless of
the merits of any particular issue. Clearly, something
is amiss.
