Default chess variations with pawns

What if pawns captured in the same way they move, that is straight
ahead instead of diagonally?

Symmetrical pawn openings wouldn't be very popular. 1...d5 would become the
most popular response to 1 e4, (1...c5 would no longer prevent 2 d4).

Pawns couldn't really defend one another, but it would be hard to stop a
passed pawn - you couldn't block it.

There are already a few unorthodox pawns in the fairy world:

- Berolina pawns: Capture straight, move diagonally. A BP on e2 can move to c4,
d3, g4, f3, and capture on e3.
- Combination pawns: Like a normal pawn, but can capture sideways. A
combination pawn on e2 can move to e3 and e4, and capture on d2, d3, f2 and
f3.
- Complete pawns: Can both move and capture both straight or diagonally. A
complete pawn on e2 can move to c4, d3, e3, e4, f3 or g4, and capture on d3,
e3 or f3.
- Superpawns: Can move straight any number of squares, or capture diagonally
any number of squares, provided the intermediate squares are empty. A
superpawn on e2 can move to e3, e4, e5, e6, e7 and e8, and capture on a6, b5,
c4, d3, f3, g4 and h5.
- Berolina Superpawn: Superpawn on Berolina lines. A Berolina Superpawn can
move to a6, b5, c4, d3, f3, g4 and h5, and capture on e3, e4, e5, e6, e7 and
e8.
