Default Latvian Gambit 3.... Qf6

Hi,

I am looking for games of the Latvian gambit with 3.. Qf6.
It seems much more stronget than the Nc6 variations too.
This seems to be a playable variation, comments?

Anyone has stats of this for black w r2400?

1.e4 e5 2. Nf3 f5 3. Bc4(or Nxe5) Qf6.....

thanks,

This site doesn't have a great deal of games, however, it is a nice way to
explore the openings, and it does provide stats (not by rating):

3.f5.Bc4&nodes=21720.21721.21722.1094595.1622261

The database that comes with Fritz 8 has no games at all with 3.Bc4 Qf6.
With 3.Nxe5 Qf6, black scores +1-3=0. The win was Sokolov (2630) beating
Apicella (2535); in the other three, both players were rated between 2400
and 2445.

Hi,
after 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4 .... the normal move is 3.... fxe5. After
4.Nxe5 black can choose 4... d5!, the Svedenborg Variation. Hundreds of
games have been played and the chances are even. Another possibility is
4.... Qg4, the poisoned pawn variation.

Playing 3... Qf6 is unusual but maybe playable even in correspondence games
(fxe5 is better).

The game could continue: (1.e4 e5 2. Nf3 f5 3.Bc4 Qf6 !?) 4.d4 Nc6 5.Bg5 Qg6
6.exf5 Qxf5
7.dxe5 h6 8.Be3 (new) b5! 9.Nh4 Qe4 10.Qh5+ Kd8 11.Bxb5 Nxe5 and black might
equalize.

after all 3.Bc4 is not the move that is most dangerous to for black. 3.Nxe5
or 3.exf5 are the better moves and even after these moves white has not a
won game yet (although white has advantage).

The Latvian gambit is one of the most interesting chess openings. Continue
to play it.

Kind regards

sorry, there is a small spelling mistake in my last posting (line 2). It
should have been:

after 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5 3.Bc4 .... the normal move is 3.... fxe4 (not fxe5)
