Default r4rk1/ppp2ppp/2nq1n2/1B2p3/P1P3b1/B2P1N2/2P2PPP/R2Q1RK1 b - - 0 12 -defense, defense. Find the best

Incredibly, with the Queen under an x-ray attack, the title position
can be defended. What are the saving moves?

Complete game below (black failed to find the best defense).

Looks to me like attack may be the best form of defence for black.
Something along the lines of.

12. ... BxN
13. BxQ BxQ
14. BxR Bxc2
15. BxN bxB
16. Bc5 Bxd3
17. Rfc1 or maybe Rfd1

And black is within half a pawn of equality despite obvious material
imbalance there is just about enough compensation for the rook.

The next best is along the lines of

12. ... Nb4
13. c5 BxN
14. cxQ BxQ
15. BxN Nd5
16. dxc7 Rfc8
17. Bd6

But that leaves a rather nasty white passed pawn on the 7th rank.

Martin Brown
