Default WANTED.......Infomation On "CYRUS"

anyone of you knows about "CYRUS"?

it's one of few freeware chess program available in 3D board. its
playing strength is quite impressive considering it was born in 1985.
(compare this one w/ chessmaster 20001986's graphics and strength, u
will shout WOW.) i've played 100+ against it. still far from worn out.

it was posted in the mid-90 by someone un-identified on the net (i.e.
U pittsberg ftp) w/o any documentation whatsoever. if memory serves me
right, i've read a short article about the program in a computer
magazine in 1994 or so.

it's mysterious that such a good program was not updated and
abandoned(?) as freeware.

1. some say it was written by richard lang(genius, pocket genius) from
the uk, is it right?

2. was it originally commercial-ware?

3. CYRUS does not work well on my new win98 and higher, do u know why?

any info/opinion welcome.

thx in advance.

Hi,

Becarreful : They are many programs with the name of CYRUS.

1. Cyrus was created in 6 months by Richard Lang (spare time!!!).
Richard Lang joined Intelligent Chess Software (David Levy) after
Cyrus won 5/5 in European Micro championship in 1981.

2. I think that Cyrus (without number) on IBM PC and Cyrus II for
Amstrad computer are the same (1985).

3. What is the problem on W98 ?

Cordialy.
