Despite playing with all care Black lost the game. What were the moves
that were wrong that Easy Level was unable to beat Jester.

Let me know how to improve the GetClub Chess so that it plays better
moves.

Bye
Sanny

This move is considered inferior; no big deal but
you might want to program in the theoretically-best
moves only.

3.d2-d4 Ng8-f6
4.Nb1-c3 Nb8-c6
5.d4-d5 Nc6-e7
6.Bc1-g5 Ne7-g6

14.Qd1-h5 Ke8-c8
15.Ra1-d1 Ng6-f4

Right here Black's formerly-small disadvantage
jumps considerably, according to my computer
analysis. A better move was ...R/h-g8.

16.Nd3xf4 Bg5xf4

The Bishop is all but trapped here. White can
follow up with g3, Rd3, R/f-d1 with a fat advantage
on account of Black being forced to struggle to
avoid loss of this precariously-posted piece.

17.Nc3-e2 Rd8-g8
18.Ne2xf4 e5xf4
19.f2-f3 h7-h6

This and the next several moves are so
passive that White can choose between
eating free pawns or -- better -- activating his
Rooks.

20.Qh5-h4 d6-d5
21.Qh4xf6 Qd7-b7
22.e4xd5 c6xd5
23.Kg1-h1 Rg8-d8
24.Rd1-d3 Rh8-g8

This was the last chance for Black to "stay
in the game" via ...Qd7; now the score LEAPS
to minus-8, indicating that "the Queen is dead".

25.Rd3-c3+ Kc8-b8
26.Rc3-b3 Qb7xb3

Quiet please. A moment of silence in respect
for her Majesty. (We continue our analysis only
for the sake of examining GetClub's difficulties
with elementary tactics.)

27.a2xb3 Kb8-a8
28.Qf6-c6+ Ka8-b8

Here, many human players would play Re1
with the idea of Re7 next, and a quick mate.

29.Qc6xh6 Rg8-f8

A horrible move. It is clear that material
loss cannot be prevented, so the best hope,
if one may hope at all in such a dreadful
position, was to seize the open file, say
sayonara to the remaining pawns, and try
for a back-rank mate by doubling on the
e-file if possible.

30.Rf1-a1 f7-f5
31.Qh6xf4+ Kb8-b7

Starting below, White appears to have seen
a forced mate, while Black still has no clue.

32.Qf4-b4+ Kb7-a8
33.Qb4-e7 Ka8-b8
34.Qe7xa7+ Kb8-c8
35.Qa7-c5+ Kc8-b8

But now White mucks it up, failing to spot
36. Qc6 (any), 37. Ra8++. It seems very
likely that Jester is not programmed to find
"shorter mates", as this was a very easy one.

36.Qc5-b6+ Kb8-c8
37.Qb6-c6+ Kc8-b8
38.Ra1-a8#

This game was very close for fifteen moves. I
would not get too worried over losing to Jester on
Easy level, since it appears to load and run much
faster than the GetClub program (also a Java
applet). One method would be to focus more on
the program's defensive capabilities, as it seems to
almost always be in losing positions. Make it a
stronger defender, and maybe it will some day
improve to where you need to work on positional
aspects.
