Default Sound off in Excalibur Grandmaster?

Just bought an Excalibur Grandmaster Chess Computer and was wondering
if it was possible to turn the sound off?

There is no mention of it in the manual so the computer beeps on every
move which gets annoying after a while. I'd find it hard to believe
that there isn't a way to mute the computer.

Any solutions out there?

Open it up and snip the wires to the speaker.

Excalibur is famous for having some beeps even when you tell the
chess computer "no sound."
