Default ChessBase and Correspondence Chess

When using ChessBase with the ICCF server, if one wishes to maintain
an offline copy of the games (with any prior notes made) do you have
to merge the games back, or set up a separate correspondence copy or
what -- what's the best way to do this? Or is it all simpler than I
am thinking? (How do I maintain notes, server time, etc. offline
easily?)
