Default chessmaster 9000 - human vs human

is it possible to play chessmaster without a computer opponent. I
would like to experiment with some opening and I want to control the
both sides

Yes, you can do this by starting a new game (CTRL+N) and setting both
sides to be Human by pressing the two buttons on both sides of the
board that look like human torsos.
