Default Rybka [5 sec] vs GetClub Normal Level [4 min]

* Martin Brown (11:43) schrieb:

Since Getclub is so weak how about rigging it for a fair fight?

Haven't we tried that before?

If you use the SF engine with forced 6 ply maximum search depth I reckon
it might just give Getclub a chance. If you start shallow and work
upwards we will see if Getclub can actually win a won game...

I got it that far against my own broken FinalFun, but it declared win
when it "found a mate".

It is getting boring watching Getclub slaughtered like this.

I remember doing Rybka 2 with a 3-ply search, it slaughtered some lower
level. The higher levels take so long, they are only playable when Sanny
operates it on Usenet.

This method will at least shed some light on its selective search.

How will that work? Getclub can actually play quite normal in the mid of
the game, more so at the higher levels. Eventually it will blunder. That
feels like a better but ELO adjusted engine. The end game usually is a
catastrophe.

The current position is quite complex for an engine. SF tells me there
are 22 legal moves now. No static evaluation could handle them well.
There is only one illegal move (Kf1).

Are you deluded? It was 3 pawns down. And if game length is worth
anything, below 40 moves is bad.

How long IVAN struggled with extra knight?

Doesn't matter. Getclub cant' even play with that extra knight. Why
don't you fix that problem?

Yeah, as shown, my dumb, broken FinalFun can find such an attack.

That SF had 24 times the time SF had in this game. Doesn't that mean
that Ivan is 24 times better than Getclub in your logic?

What's that 0 doing there, shouldn't that be a 2? Arena bug?

Default Rybka [5 sec] vs GetClub Normal Level [4 min]

Then GetClub Played 35. RESIGN *[GETCLUB RESIGNS]
GetClub Time: 100 sec
GetClub Depth: 14
GetClub Sco -23.54 [loss to GetClub]

Okay, did it find a mate?

Yes, GetClub Resigned and closed the game.

I am happy GetClub survived till 35 moves.

In next game, I think GetClub will play much better Why?

1. The opening I chose was not much good.

2. GetClub was improved a little, So now it will defend much strongly
now.

However SF was taking just 5 sec/ move while GetClub was taking 2-3
min/move. So even then SF is much stronger than GetClub.

My goal with GetClub was just to make a program thats playable. I have
no ambitions of defeating Rybka/ SF/ Fritz etc.

However if GetClub becomes even 1/10th of their strength that will
give me a lot satisfaction.

Bye
Sanny
