Default Kramnik Internet Simul

Kramnik interview yesterday after the simul where he won 12 out of 12 60
30 TC.

The simul was held on ICC and was provided FREE for our members. We held a
qualifying
tournament that basically acted as a lottery for seats.

Games in .pgn at the bottom. Thanks go mainly to Martin Grund (LateKnight)
for organizing
this and Kiebitz for running the qualifying event. Lisebeth captured the
interview.

Cheers from the gang at www.chessclub.com

Kramnik(GM)(3): thank you all for playing
Kramnik(GM)(3): The ICC would like me to answer a few questions from the
crowd
Kramnik(GM)(3): you can ask them here in the channel
Cartucho(3): hi Kramnik
Unknownuser25(3): Hi Kramnik
Kramnik(GM)(3): hello

Q sphenxes(3): GM Kramnik, is your game against Topalov going to take place
as schedueled
A Kramnik(GM)(3): sphenxes yes, i think it will take place as scheduled, the
topalov match

Q nileman(3): how do toy consider your chances for the world championship?
A Kramnik(GM)(3): nileman, im not thinking in terms of chances, but to do my
best and hopefully
that will be enough to win the match

Q CofC-Liu(3): mr kramnik, is evgeny still your second, helping you with
preparation?
A Kramnik(GM)(3): cofc-liu, i will announce my seconds for the match around
september

Q Alexflin(3): Mr.Kramnik can I ask who (other than yourself of course) will
emerge as Kasparov's
successor, and establish him/herself as the true number 1?
Q Alexflin(3): in your opinion
A Kramnik(GM)(3): alexflin, now its difficult to be number one for a long
period of time, competition
is higher.

Q fearlessone(3): GM Kramnik have you ever played Naka in 1 minute chess on
here?
Q medoa(3): Mr Kramnik. Do you view blitz as detrimental for a professional
chessplayer ?
A Kramnik(GM)(3): regarding playing 1 minute games, its not my favorite and
i tend to play
slower time controls on the internet

Q san2003(3): hi Mr.Kramnik why do u think compared to other openings
ruylopez and sicilian r so
common in super gm level?
A Kramnik(GM)(3): san2003 the openings are best, its that simple

Q OMGZORZ(3): I have a marriage proposal from a friend of mine.. is there a
special woman in your
life already ? :-)
A Kramnik(GM)(3): omgzorz, sorry but there is already a special woman in my
life

Q medoa(3): Mr.Kramnik. Could you see yourself playing blitzgames just for
fun at a place like ICC ?
A Kramnik(GM)(3): medoa, yes, i could see myself playing blitz on icc

Q Qualm(3): is 12 classical time control games enough to win for you and why
the number of
games is getting lower in a matches for the crown , thank you?
A Kramnik(GM)(3): qualm, i personally prefer as many games as possible in
champ matches...but the
regulations are up to FIDE

Q YaacovN(3): Mr. Kramnik, what do u think of caro kann nf6 gxf variation?
A Kramnik(GM)(3): say yaacovn, its a underestimated variation, i think its
playable for black

Q foffo(3): Mr Kramnik do you use chess programs in preparation for matches
etc and what kind?
A Kramnik(GM)(3): foffo, i use chess programs but only in preparation...

Kramnik(GM)(3): by the way, thanks for the 12 participants and everyone
who played on the qualifiers.
it was a real pleasure to be a part of this event.

Q Billy-Jack(3): Mr Kramnik, would you ever be willing to play Fischer in a
random match, and do you
feel he would be able to score even one point ?
A Kramnik(GM)(3): billy-jack, it would be interesting to do so, but i dont
know what is his position
on this matter.

Q kvatsin(3): GM Kramnik, what do you think of Fisher random chess? Is it a
viable alternative to
"classical" chess? Thanks!
A Kramnik(GM)(3): kvatsin i still prefer classical chess but im ready to
play fischer random as well.

Kramnik(GM)(3): i have to leave now and will answer one more question,
please keep them coming

Q Hellzbellz(3): I would like to ask mr. kramnik if he thinks his long
inactivity (due to illness,
which i hope is under control now) will have influence in his next match for
the crown.
A Kramnik(GM)(3): hellzbellz in general for a professional chess player, its
best to not have big gaps
in tournaments. but my last performance in torino was fine...so i hope to
continue in the same style.

Kramnik(GM)(3): good bye to all, keep playing chess!!
Jadwin(3): It was very fun to watch you!
Hellzbellz(3): Thank You Mr. Kramnik
EGadZooks(3): Thanks mr. Kramnik
MACTEP(3): Vladimir, Vi planiruete igrat' na ICC regularno?
Pirk(3): PIRK AGREES THANK YOU FOR THE HONOR!
darrellmac(3): bye
foffo(3): bye mrkramnik
MaddoggVers2(3): bye mr. kramnik
spacecadet(3): gl in your match Kramnik!

ICC and FREE should never be used in the same paragraph. Is
it true that ICC is kicking out guest accounts and raising its
"membership fee" to $60/year?

Thank god for FICS.

If you're upset about the use of `free' to mean `included in the
price', you've picked the wrong century to live in.

Why the scare quotes? Are you claiming that the money ICC charges for
access isn't really a membership fee? What is it, then?

They're increasing the price from $49.00 to $59.95 as of tomorrow.

I've no idea about guest accounts but logging in as `guest' gives no
warning that they're going to be discontinued.
