Still strong and composer :

I just added the 7 last ones.

The study named "La Chute" [=0040.33f5c8] seems to be demolished by EGTB
6-men.

Fantastic stuff! Thank you very much... There are many Smyslov fans
lurking out here!

I ran the "Impuissante" position through Fritz and the cook found is
5...Be5, which is += for White but does not lose as quickly as
5...Bxd2.

Fritz found the first quiet move for "Impuissante" within a few
seconds.

Amazing nevertheless.

Yes you are right, 5 ...e5 is an interting move for Black.

But I think (with computers) that White do nethertheless win :

5.... Be5 6.Ne4 Kb8 7.f6 Kc7
[7...Kc8 8.f7 Bg7 9.Nc5 Bf8 10.Ne6 Be7 11.f8Q+ Bxf8 12.Nxf8+-]
8.f7 Bg7 9.Nc5 Kd6 10.Nb3 Ke5 11.Kc6+- 1-0

I think I have found now the best reply for White :
5...Be5! 6.Ne4 Kb8 7.Kc6! Bg7 (7...Kc8 8.f6 Kd8 9.Kb7+-) 8.f6 Bf8 9.Kd6!+-
So I corrected the page of Smylov and the pgn

Thanks

Yes. But since White wins with the first move suggested by Smyslov,
and since this is not a "mate in X" problem, perhaps 5...Be5! is not a
'cook' after all--just better resistance by Black. I think a cook is
the term in chess problems where you say "Mate in 3" and somebody
finds a "mate in 2".
