Below is the final line-up for the London Chess Classic, with the updated August ratings. The field boasts a staggering 2791 rating average, which, as things stand, makes this a category 22 tournament.

Looks like a candidates tournament. Strange not to see Kramnik or Svidler. Amazing how times change.

I guess Adams is the affirmative-action, token Englishman, who has no realistic chance of winning, but is there for local interest? I can beat him.

Adams, Ivanchuk, Aronian all share the same problem. They are very talented but when they lose a game they take it very hard. Like it is the end of
the world. Losing a game in chess is part of the game as a whole. Your going to lose a game at this high level no matter what. Once they lose they
just seem to fall apart and seems to take days to recover. No one likes to lose but it is a part of the game. Carlsen just fell apart recently in
Norway, yet is still favored to win the Sinqfield Cup coming soon.

It's a field of combative players, apart from Adams.

I wonder if Short was invited but declined?
