Default Gens Una Sumus. Now let?s kill each other? -200 Words by Lev Khariton

I don't understand why some people, evidently, regard (or have ever regarded)
Bobby Fischer as a greater player than Boris Spassky during the *1960s*.

In my view, the evidence does not come close to justifying that conclusion.
During the 1960s, Fischer dominated American chess, yet he was relatively
inactive at the top level of international chess. In contrast, from 1965
to 1969, Spassky won seven out of eight matches against these top players:
Tigran Petrosian (1-1), Mikhail Tal (1-0), Viktor Korchnoi (1-0),
Paul Keres (1-0), Bent Larsen (1-0), and Efim Geller (2-0).

Boris Spassky's record of winning in the 1960s is clearly more impressive
than
Bobby Fischer's. Apparently, some Americans (and others) don't really
believe
that "winning is the only thing" when it comes to their ranking Fischer ahead
of Spassky as chess-players in the 1960s.

In adition to the above, very impressive results, Spassky, in the 1960's, had
a plus score against the world's highest-rated chessplayer ever!!

Were it not for the fact that Boris always had to sandbag for the World Open,
he no doubt would have been the world's highest-rated player ever, himself.
;-)

In fact, there once was talk of an article, published in Russian, which
showed that of all the world's top players, Victor Kortchnoi had the best
record against the others. This included Bobby Fischer, but it was written
before his most phenomenal victories had occured. After Fischer 6-0'ed Larsen,
and beat both Petrosian and Spassky, the results of such a comparison may have
been different.
