Default Attack of the bots

The September "Wired" details the infestation of online poker by bots,
which in addition to playing with mathematical precision, can cheat by
collaborating and sharing information with other bots at the same
online "table". Much similarity to computer-aided cheating at online
chess.

Scientists at the U of Alberta are striving to create the poker
version of Deep Blue. According to the article, this is a still a few
years away.

I'm wondering how long until this impacts the physical realm. Imagine
a marathoner wearing a little hearing-aid sized device that has access
to the runner's physical record, heart rate, blood pressure, hydration
status, performance in past races, competitors' past performances
adjusted for conditions, ambient heat, humidity, etc. A little voice
saying "speed up" or "slow down" and it ain't your conscience.

Poker bots are real and they are out there competing.

When I went to play at the 2005 WSOP in Las Vegas, I also saw the 2005
Poker Robot Championship, which was held at Binion's Horseshoe.

Then there was a match between Phil Laak, a well known poker
professional and against a poker robot:
