Default Chess Players Kicked Out Of Mall

I read an article today [12/2/05], at the library, in the Chicago Sun
Times about a mall in the state of New York where the chess players
have been kicked out. The new management of the mall complains that
the chess players would sit in the food court area, taking up space
without making any purchases. The article also stated that the mall
management complained about the noise the chess players were making.
At this point the chess players are now only to be allowed in from
8-10am, along with the walking group. This of course is before the
mall opens up for the general public. The article quoted someone as
saying that it would be frustrating for a mother with a toddler to be
unable to find a seat in the food court because of the chess players
taking up space. Sorry, but I do not know which mall this is at.
Maybe someone else will know the full details, or have a copy of the
article. I thought this was interesting, especially the complaint
about the noise.

Is this the mall where Ben Finegold got his third imaginary GM norm?
Who was the organizer who fixed his score?

Good for the mall. Food court seats are always in demand, especially
during lunch hours. Chess players can start clubs if they need a place
to play, like every other hobby.

I have to agree, actually. Reverse the situation: what would chess
clubs do if people wanting to eat their lunch came in and sat down at
chess tables every day?

It wouldn't be hard for these chessplayers to buy a soda or share an
order of fries. But as we know, chessplayers are about the cheapest
hobbyists around, so I'm not surprised they are being tossed.

That's unfair. I sometimes have to sleep on those benches. It's wrong
to discriminate against losers.
