I am wondering what the status of this fund is. If they're not already
doing so, maybe
the uscf could set up an insurance program whereby chess professionals could
purchase
health insurance. I understand that now the law allows entities other than
employers
to set up health insurance groups.

Premium cost would probably drain the fund dry in short order.

You need a chess superstar to promote this health plan and there's no
chess superstar in the US. Maybe you can get Bobby Fischer or Innes to
endorse it.

I'm not suggesting that the USCF pay the premiums. They would merely set up
a group so that the participants could receive a group rate rather than an
individual rate. .

JG,

the chess master insurance website has individual plan at group rates.
You should peruse it.

Of course I do: Sam Sloan. But Sloan is a TV star now, so he probably
doesn't have time.

I can do it but he must pay me at least $5 an hour.

=============
Group insurance is "guaranteed issue" in most places and therefore
priced much higher than plans for individuals who can be accepted or
rejected based up information on their applications.
