I haven't really been paying attention for years.

I know that a decade or more ago, Kasparov and Short and others split from
FIDE and formed their own organization. Does this situation still exist?
Are there still two international chess organizations?

Thank you

No Brad, the break-away group broke up.

a new chess organisation came into being for professional players which Joel
Lautier has been president of for several years - he is now stepping down
from it

they run and fund their own tournaments, its name is the ACP. Association of
Chess Professionals, which googles if you want more info

Cordially, Phil

Innes is full of BS again. The majority of ACP events are only
sanctioned by ACP. ACP is broke and has ****. Of course Innes is
incapable of telling the truth as usual. Point to the historian.

FIDE no longer exists. It's now called KICF.
