Isn't Joel Channing a puppet of Goichberg and company?

Joel has already worked with USCF staff to institute some processes that I
pushed for in my year on the Board -- in particular creating monthly
cashflow schedules. I believe that he is also working with the Office to do
monthly budget projections and report actuals versus projections. These are
basic financial management tools that any well-run organization utilizes.

However, he is just one of seven board members. I learned during my time on
the Board that even those with whom you generally agree will differ and vote
you down from time to time. Joel has and will experience the same thing.

Default Breaking news (was Can Joel Channing?)

With regret and thanks for his service, USCF Executive Board has
accepted the resignation of Greg Shahade from the Board for personal
reasons.

Because there are now two vacancies on the Executive Board, this means
that there will be a special election for two seats on the USCF
Executive Board, the remaining year of Tim Hanke's seat on the Board
and the three remaining years of Greg's seat. This special Executive
Board election will be held in conjunction with this year's State
Delegate Election.

Further details of the election will be announced shortly.

Channing could improve the federation if he championed the Mensa
Model for chess, the only way to really change things for the better
down at the basic market level.
Unfortunately, most likely Don Schultz will shoo him away from the
Mensa Model.

================
No. The best format for a national chess federation is one that
would borrow some of Mensa's structure, mostly the national dues
sharing with an umbrella org at the metro scale which is the basic
market for organized chess and the one that should be capitalized on a
systematic basis.
Until we have that the USCF will remain ineffective and generally
insignificant.
