Default 10th anniversary of Deep Blue-Kasparov, 1-0

The first time a computer beat a reigning world champion under
tournament conditions was 10 years ago today, per Wikipedia
anniversaries list. This was the first game of the first DB-Kasparov
match and Kasparov was shocked by this loss, but he came back to win
the match with a 4-2 score. He lost the subsequent and more famous
match a year later.

Interesting. The first time a computer beat a GM was against David
Bronstein, who, foolishly in retrospect, spotted it Queen odds in the first
game. The second game went better at level odds, and Bronstein announced a
mate-in 8, and that position is still used to test chess program
'horizions'. Phil
