Default Levon Aronian scores big upset in Reykjavik Blitz tournament! Dominates with 13/15, beating Kasparov and Karpov!

Is this the heralding of a new Blitz King? It would certainly be
interesting to see how Aronian would fare against the likes of
Kramnik, Anand. Ivanchuk, etc... in Blitz chess. Dreev is another
player who is reputed to be excellent at Blitz. emil Sutovsky's
excellent result of clear 3rd os not much of a surprise. He is a
superb tactician, and seems to have quick "board vision". I would not
be surprised to see Sutovsky join the "2700 Club".

Levon's been known as a "Blitz Devil" for quite some time. Routinely one

of the
best blitz players on ICC period, and incredibly strong OTB as well. He

was
wrecking people in Warsaw, too.

Yes, it was a rapid chess tournament (Gawlikowski Memorial).
After all he was only third there, after "Chucky" Ivanchuk and Akopian ;-)

Jerzy

He had to play Chucky in the semifinals. Not his fault.

Surely it wasn`t his fault in Reykjavik Rapid either that he had to play
NDShort in the second round ;-)

Jerzy
